Dr. Joy doing an ovary oocyte collection

Our team has utilized the technology of oocyte collection from the ovaries of deceased mares for ICSI since 2008.

Depending on their history, type of semen, and age, some mares may be better candidates for in vitro embryo procedures (ICSI) rather than breeding and flushing. We can help you determine if your mare is a better candidate for embryo flush or in vitro production

Freezing of oocytes is not currently a viable option but resulting embryos from ICSI can be successfully frozen and stored until you decide you would like to transfer

We hope it's something you never have to go through, but when your mare's life is compromised, her legacy has the opportunity to live on.

We offer 24/7 support and will provide step-by-step instructions.

IMPORTANT NOTE: stallion semen (cooled or frozen) must be available within 48 hours of ovary harvest

" Introducing Whizkey N Diamonds x Smokums Treana 2025 palomino colt, Cody, born on Wednesday, February 26th."

This is an especially memorable ICSI success story for us at VRI. Our client, S6 Ranch in Knightsen, CA wanted to try for one last baby out of their 11 year-old daughter's beloved 25 year-old heart horse. We were so pleased that we were successful in creating and implanting a healthy embryo in their sweet recip mare, Keeva. Their now 12 year old is already planning her future high school show career with her new colt Cody.
